Back in November, the Japanese rock band Angelo announced their usual countrywide spring tour for 2020 titled “Mephisto Rebellion” which spans from early May to early June and includes 12 concert dates; these news were no surprise to anyone who knows Angelo, because they usually have a spring tour around this time.
However, for many of us, today there were surprising news with the announcement of a 2020 Summer tour titled “THE BRANCHED WORLD LINE”, which begins in late June and ends mid-July, a few days before the 2020 Tokyo Olympics begins. Details of each concert date and ticket sales period has been posted in their Official Website.
One of the interesting aspects about this tour is that it is a relatively small tour featuring only 5 concerts date, and probably the most interesting aspect is that all the dates are going to be in concert halls! it’s been a long time since Angelo performs in hall-type concert venues, the last time was probably in Yokohama Pacifico at the end of their 2014-2015 tour “Blind Spot of Psychology” , so these come as very refreshing news and might hint to something interesting coming into the future, maybe Budokan? who knows, but I am looking forward to it.
Let’s explore the venues a little bit. The first two dates are going to be in the large hall of the Misato City Cultural Hall which has a capacity of 1292 attendees in seating format and is located in Saitama prefecture; just to have an idea of other bands that have shows here, this year Ayumi Hamasaki and LUNA SEA have concert dates from their 2020 tours happening on this place, so it looks very promising.
The next 2 dates take us to the beautiful Osaka, where they will perform in the NHK Osaka Hall, this one has a capacity of 1417 in a beautiful 2-floor theater format, a little more capacity than the previous venue, and this hall will be used in 2020 for bands like MONKEY Majik and KANA-BOON.
The final date take us back to the heart of Tokyo and will happen in the concert hall LINE CUBE SHIBUYA located obviously in Shibuya as its name implies. Some interesting facts about this place is that it’s very large, it has a capacity of 1956 in seating format and distributed among 3 floors! There’s also an area for orchestra below the scenario, I wonder if Angelo will make use of this feature to bring us a concert with some more instruments perhaps? or some orchestra songs, we can just wonder for now. Interestingly, Angelo will also hold the Kirito Birthday Concert in this venue, this one will happen in February 24 of 2020 and it’s titled “A CONNECTED FIELD”, details are also in their official website, so we will get to see a bit sooner how Angelo plans to take advantage of this beautiful concert venue.
We will see how this summer tour announcement impacts the rest of Angelo schedule during 2020, some outcomes could be that Kirito doesn’t do a solo tour and only does an acoustic concert or that we may have a delay in the autumn tour, for now it will probably depend on the release date of their new material this year, so let’s wish them the best of success this year!
