Finally weekend, and I am in the mood of practicing on more translation works of some of my favorite songs. This time I chose Daisuke Asakura‘s song “beautiful symphony ~ only for your life” from his 2002 album “21st Fortune“.
This album is very important, because it marked the return of Daisuke Asakura‘s solo works after 7 years from the release of his album “Electromancer” in 1995. He did not focus on solo work during this period, because he was working with TM Revolution and also with his band ICEMAN, so 2002 marks his come back, and also the come back of his unit access since the suspension of their activities in 1994. So we can say this year sealed completely Daisuke’s future and what he will focus on for the rest of his career.
From musical perspective, in this album we start to notice Daisuke’s shift into a more electrical trance type sound, after coming from progressive rock in ICEMAN, for me it’s like he’s saying “hey guys, this is the music I REALLY like to make, so deal with it” LOL , which I think it’s wonderful because he is the best at making this kind of music. There is a very nice combination of songs with strong EDM vibes (and this was 2002! he was ahead of his time) good examples are “robots ～bluntsoundz mix” and “autumn trance” and we have a nice blend of more melodically orchestrated songs like “winter mute” and “spring phase“, there are also some songs that are mainly acoustic piano only like “autumn choir” and finally for those who love his voice (like me) some songs where he sings, “ride on free” is the most popular from those, but my personal favorite is “beautiful symphony ~ only for your life” and this is why I decided to translate it. This doesn’t mean I won’t translate the others.. I will, but later!
I noticed the kanji for this song is nowhere to be found in the net, so I transcribed from the CD booklet and I will post it here together with the Romaji and the translation of course. Feel free to make suggestions or correct me if you see something that doesn’t make sense !! the kanji is there anyways.
